Postmortem Devlog
Horror Level Showcase » Devlog
Hello! Thanks for checking out the game.
First and foremost, I want to make things clear that I do not intend to continue developing this project. As I've said in the description, this was a submission for a class. I did enjoy this, but I think I would rather scrap everything and start from the beginning (or close to it) rather than continue with what I originally had in mind for this level.
Now for a couple of thoughts on the level itself:
- I wish I had better understood and implemented the audio within the level. Metasound and Soundscape are excellent tools that I just didn't have time to fully utilize for this project. I made do with what I knew how to do, and I'm proud of how it was accomplished, but I wish it had been done better.
- Since it was always meant to be a level showcase rather than a fully realized level, I focused less on the player's ability to interact with the map than I would have liked to if I had more time. I'll highlight what I mean more when I publish a video devlog, but essentially I wanted it to be a puzzle game.
- I think I did well utilizing the tools of the Sci-Fi pack. I really liked how a lot of the lights in the scene interacted with the objects in a way that gave them faint impressions and an eerie reflection. I also like how the prop placement implies that something isn't quite right, but it isn't fully destroyed so it can't be that bad. Yet...
Thanks again, and there will be a video devlog on my YouTube channel within the next day!
